What’s in a name

Published November 18, 2015 by Lunapo

A name is power. A name is important. A name is everything.

Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?

Daesh. Not “Isis”. Stop with the “Isis”.

A Goddess who has been for eons before this hate cult has her beautiful name dragged through the mud.

Her practitioners, groups, stores, covens, etc founded in her name have been victims of hate crimes

All because of the ignorance of anglophones.

“ISIS” is an acronym for Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

Daesh is also an acronym, also combining the first letters of their name, but it’s for arabicphones rather than anglophones. It is extremely hated by the group because it shortens their cause and doesn’t claim them to be a state. It delegitimizes them.

Words are power.

The pen is mightier than the sword.

Names mean everything.

Call a spade a spade and call these monsters Daesh.

Keep Isis for the Goddess, where it belongs.
