Happy Birthday Scott Cunningham!
Some mistakenly believe Cunningham was the creator of Wicca. Cunningham fell into Wicca in high school, taught by a classmate, then he learned under Raven Grimassi. So, while he is not the creator, he was one of the first people (if not THE first) to open Wicca to the general public. Wiccan was a very secretive, private practice but Scott wanted to be open to newcomers. He is the author of 22 books about Wicca and Witchcraft.
He died after infections following a diagnosis of AIDS-related cryptococcal meningitis. He was 36.
What could Wicca be today of Scott had lived trough his prime and beyond? Today, he’d be 56.
